The fictional Prime Lake in the South of Guiana with the definitely fictional city of Manoa, o el Dorado at the western end! The Amazon Basin is described by 'This Country and its Inhabitants are very little known', a similar annotation is also applied to the fictional Iarajes or Xarayes Lake that forms the headwaters of the La Plata. The map is decorated with a rococo cartouche a compass rose. Mexico depicted as 'New Spain'.
Condition: Good imprint, later hand colouring, right margin closely cropped to border.
